Celebrating 5 Months with GiGi and MiMi.
So, Vera turned 5 months yesterday. We cannot believe she is getting so big. These last months has passed so quickly and she has grown to much. This months has been a big one developmentally for sure. She has officially sitting up, sleeping in her own room, giggling when she thinks something is funny, and has had a little bit of real grown up food! This has been a big month, and we are in love more and move everyday.

She is becoming so independent while playing and her interests in toys is changing. All toys still first go in the mouth, but they are also examined closely and she is using her other senses, including touch, smell and taste.

Bath time is the best!

She is also really beginning to taste things. As I said she had a little avocado, cereal, and banana...not all at once, and not everyday...but she really loves to eat with dad. She will just about everything in her mouth and if they are not so yummy she makes hilarious faces, so far we haven't had any of these faces with food which is good.

Mom and Dad said my Easter basket from Omi was delish, but I'm not so sure...

Bath time is also getting more and more fun. She is about to out grow her tub (which we have loved...highly recommend the 4Moms tub). This means we get to move to the real tub and the blow up ducky tub Cousin Ashley gave us.

This month is also shown the first signs of teething...something I am not looking forward to in so many ways...but we are prepared and the amber beads have come out! They are pretty cute.

Not the best pic mom...I'm all cheeks...and look like a boy...not cool.

We have also begun going for more and more walks. The weather has gotten quite nice in Albuquerque lately, and V has been donning her sunglasses more and more. It has also become clear that she is as fair as her mom for sure...see those rosy cheeks...that from a bit too much sunshine on Friday. Only one more month till she will be living in sunscreen 24/7.

Thank you guys for visiting out blog and hearing about our little love.

21 Weeks Old

Miss V is 21 weeks!

This little bean got a new toy while we were at IKEA and she loves it!

She has just about got this whole sitting up thing as well.

And she loves ice tea with Pop! (Don't worry it's half caf and most of it goes down her shirt).

She is a big lover of books! And she is getting quite strong when it comes to tummy time. Until she gets tired...

She's our sweety bug love. If you couldn't tell I took a ton of pictures this week.

V's First Weekend Getaway and She's 20 Weeks!

Ready for a Road Trip!
This weekend we took a little trip to Denver! We went to visit our dear friends Jess and Brent, and as an extra bonus the trip also allowed for some family quality time with Omi and Grandpa as well!!!

Being Silly Before We Left, and Working on Sitting Up.
We set out on the trip Thursday afternoon prepared for a lot of stops with a big bag of toys to keep our little one occupied. This being her first road trip can I say we were a little worried having no idea what we were in for. Needless to say, Vera is an angel. She slept until we got to Raton and then we played for about an hour after our dinner stop and she slept the rest of the way to Denver.

Waking Up with Dad.

Once we arrived, we crashed at J and Brent's to rest up for a day of shopping on Friday. V loved the mall and enjoyed smiling at everyone, even if they didn't notice her she smiles at everyone. The one photo I took from the day may be documenting the only time she wasn't smiling :)

How Many Hours Have We Been Here?

Please Don't Buy Me This Silly Hat!

You Guys Can't be the Only Ones Having Lunch!
The next day Vera went to her first museum!!! We saw the modern art exhibit where we all enjoyed some pretty amazing pieces of art (V while straped on to Dad in the Bjorn). On top of the great art...our travel to the museum was an adventurous one. We were on the opposit side of downtown, so we walked to the bus station and rode the bus to the stop by the museum. It would have been pretty low key but we got on the bus right as the St Paddy's Day Parade was ending. Exciting! Thankfully, J met us there, so V and I were able to ride home with her.

After a day at the museum we went for a wonderful dinner at The Plimoth. So delish!!!! It's a block and a half from J and Brent's and was delish...did I say that already? We had wonderful wine, got to chat with friends and enjoy a really fantastic dinner.

The Source

Before heading home we had bunch at a wonderful place called The Source in Rino, it's an 1880 foundry building that was convered into a wonderful space to be occupied by unique small storefronts. The resturant was awesome and the building's design was so unique. Peter and I geeked out for sure. Each of the storefronts had a specialty good which they sold. There was a butcher, a baker, and bourbon maker. We were there in the morning for brunch so we weren't able to  try the distillery, but check our the beautiful loaf of bread from the baker...

Our trip wrapped up with a quick trip to Ikea to get a bookshelf for V's room. We hope to build it this weekend...we shall see. It was a great trip and one we will have to repeat soon!

19 Weeks with V

Today Vera is 19 weeks old. Insane how much can happen in one week. I haven't caught everything on camera, but I'm sure I will in the next month :)

Her toes have made their way to her mouth!

We are talking up a storm. Lots of new sounds hhhhhhhs are some of the newest.

She has spent one full week in her own room, and she is sleeping like a champ!

She has officially rolled over all the way from tummy to back and then back to tummy.

She is beginning to be really interested in food. She is even "chewing" while watching us eat.

She also has begun enjoying her jumpy saucer. It's something she is going to enjoy for a long time as her toes barely touch the ground right now.

Videos to come...once I figure out how to edit them properly.

Four Months Old!

Vera is officially four months old today (well on the 28th or 1st since February doesn't have 29 days this year).

Here are her stats!
  • Weight ~ 13 lbs
  • Height ~ 25"
  • Shoe Size ~ Between 0 and 1 (ironically because she has my feet...need I say more?)
  • Clothes Size ~ 3-6 Months and a few 0-3 Months here and there.
  • Bed Time ~ 8PM
  • Sleep ~ 7 to 10 hours at night, with several little naps during the day.
  • Favorite Toys ~ Wiggle Monkey and her Silver Rattle (this is good for chewing)
  • Words ~ None yet, but lots of squeals, giggles, and sounds all together.

This last month has been a huge month developmentally for our little one. She is still a little wibble wobble, but she has begun to sit up on her own with the help of a few pillows.

Sitting on the sofa playing while dad is being silly

She is enjoying tummy time, and becoming quite strong with her little arms and legs. She is quite the little wiggler on the changing table too! While our family from Boston was in town in February she loved playing on the floor with her cousins and auntie during tummy time. She would talk and smile with them and play with her hands and toys while they read and played together.

This month has also brought about the first interest in the upcoming exciting world of dining! No, we have not started solid foods. But V did get her high chair all set up in the kitchen, and thus she has begun "eating" meals with us. The road to good table manors will be a long one...right now all she wants to do is play with her toys at the table. :-) One of which happens to be a sippy cup. She totally knows what to do with it, which has amazed us. She doesn't really like water once she has the cup tipped and gets a sip, but she is quite proud of herself when she does.

Playing with her favorite toys {right now} while we have dinner
Bath time has also become more and more fun! V loves to help you wash her face and steals the washcloth to chew/suck on the rest of the bath. She also loves to splash, and she has begun to really get the hand eye thing and is able to knock over the shampoo.

As I have done in the past, I will say again how much we are in love with our little one. She is the joy of our days. Peter and I have enjoyed the last four months more than we could have imagined. Vera has truly transformed our lives in the most wonderful way. As Dame said, it is impossible to imagine her not being in our lives just four months ago. We truly cannot remember life without her little giggles, huge smiles and adorable squeals. We have learned so much about ourselves, each other, and what it means to be parents. She has become our little teacher, entertainer and snuggler.
